MEMBERSHIP DETAILS Musical ability/experience: It is not a requirement to be able to read music fluently. There is no formal audition, but after attending a few sessions, the Musical Director will ask new members to audition: the main purpose of this is to establish the singer's vocal range and strength and their reading ability. The M.D.'s decision is final. Some members learn note-by- note, some learn by ear: what we really hope for is ENTHUSIASM! Rehearsals: These are held every Thursday during the School terms in the Community Room at Clyst Vale Community College, Broadclyst, from 7.15 p.m. - 9.15 p.m., with a short break for refreshments and notices. Music: The choir holds a good stock of sheet music and choral compilations, but for larger works these are usually hired. Occasionally individual members may be required to buy or have an option to buy certain choir music. Concert dress: For formal concerts, our dress code is normally black skirt and white blouses for the ladies and D.J.s for the men, with buttonholes provided. For the Christmas and summer concerts we wear informal 'colourful' dress. Subscription: This becomes due in January and currently the subscription is £51 per annum which can be paid termly. Choir members are encouraged to covenant their membership fees to take advantage of the tax benefit. Our covenant secretary is Philip Hodge. We have large discounts for students. |
