Rehearsals

Rehearsals are held every Thursday from September through to July, at St John the Baptist’s Church, Broadclyst.  They begin at 7.15 pm and continue with a short break through to 9.15 pm.   

Musical Ability

There is no requirement to be able to read music fluently: some members are good sight-readers, but others learn note by note, or by ear.  What is most important is enthusiasm and keenness to learn!

We encourage all newcomers to come along for a few weeks to try us out!  If you would then like to join the Choir, there is a short informal audition, which is designed simply to establish vocal range and strength, and reading ability.

Music

The Choir holds a good library of sheet music and choral compilations, but will normally hire in music for larger works.

Concert Dress

Our dress code for concerts is black with white shirts/blouses and Cantilena scarves and bow ties.

Membership Subscription

The membership subscription is payable in January or pro rata each term.   There is a substantially reduced rate for student membership.  All members are also encouraged to covenant their membership fees to allow the Choir to take advantage of the tax benefit.
